Finding Mrs Kingfiser

The metal casing of my lens was cold and hard in the 3 degree airI, the shutter button too cold to hover over. I was glad of my Vallerret Photography Gloves today.

The long grass in the Llama field prickled with frost, as a passer by walked his dog, oblivious to the iridescent splendour of the Kingfisher they had just passed, as if it were just any old morning.

My son once said, (whilst at Holyhead, Angelsey) :

Any day is automatically a good day when you see a dolphin

Well, the same is true for Kingfishers: It is not just any old day, it is automatically a good day.

You can tell its a female Kingfisher, as the lower part of her bill is orangey red. The male’s bill is all dark - much less flashy, barely a flashy bird at all really the male. Actually though, Kingfishers are incredibly hard to spot against the autumn leaves if they are facing towards you.
